1. Information We Collect

We collect only what we need to provide and improve the app experience. This includes:

• Content you create: Journal entries, photos, ratings, notes, and trip data you add to the app.
• Account information: If you create an account, we collect your email address and a password (stored securely as a hash).
• Device information: Device type, operating system version, and app version for troubleshooting.
• Usage analytics: Aggregate, anonymized data about how features are used, to improve the product.
• Location (optional): Only if you choose to tag entries with a location. Location access is never granted silently.

We do not collect financial data, health data, biometric data, or sensitive personal identifiers.

2. How We Use Your Information

Your information is used exclusively to:

• Provide and maintain app functionality
• Sync your data across your devices
• Respond to support requests
• Send important service notifications (never marketing without consent)
• Understand aggregate usage to improve the product

We will never sell your personal data to third parties. We will never use your data for advertising profiling.

3. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase (Firestore), a cloud database service with enterprise-grade encryption in transit and at rest. Backups are encrypted and access-controlled.

We implement industry-standard security measures including:

• TLS encryption for all data in transit
• AES-256 encryption for data at rest
• Role-based access controls
• Regular security reviews

4. Third-Party Services

Lumatra apps use the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

• Google Firebase: Backend, authentication, and database — Firebase Privacy Policy
• Google Analytics for Firebase: Anonymized usage analytics
• Apple App Store: App distribution and in-app purchases

These services may collect data as described in their respective policies. We do not share personally identifiable information with these services beyond what is required for the app to function.

5. Your Rights & Data Control

You have full control over your data:

• Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you
• Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information
• Deletion: Request deletion of your account and all associated data
• Portability: Export your data in a standard format
• Opt-out: Disable analytics collection in app settings

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. If you delete your account, your personal data is removed from our systems within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Anonymized, aggregated analytics data may be retained indefinitely as it cannot be linked back to you.

7. Children's Privacy

Lumatra apps are not directed to children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the European Union). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us immediately and we will delete it promptly.

8. International Users

If you use our apps from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where our infrastructure is based. By using our apps, you consent to this transfer.

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have additional rights under GDPR. Our lawful basis for processing your data is your consent and the performance of our contract with you.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you via in-app notification or email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.

Continued use of our apps after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.

10. SMS/Text Messaging

Lumatra Technology may send SMS text messages to people who contact us directly by texting our business number, in response to inquiries, support requests, or account-related matters. Message frequency varies based on your conversation with us. Message and data rates may apply.

Reply STOP at any time to opt out of future messages, or HELP for assistance. We do not sell or share your phone number with third parties for marketing purposes.
